The Hidden Cost of the Wrong Adhesive in Manufacturing

The price of an adhesive is easy to see. The cost of the wrong adhesive is not.

A poor adhesive choice can create scrap, rework, downtime, failed inspections, slow assembly, operator frustration, and warranty issues. Even if the material itself is inexpensive, the process problems it creates can become costly.

Common warning signs include lifting edges, inconsistent placement, residue, weak bonds, long application times, excessive cleanup, or parts that fail after environmental exposure. These issues often point to a mismatch between the adhesive, the substrate, and the manufacturing process.

Sometimes the solution is a different adhesive. Other times, it is a better format: die-cut parts, improved liners, pull tabs, roll-fed components, or a construction that is easier for operators to apply consistently.

MTA helps manufacturers look beyond unit price and evaluate the total cost of adhesive performance.

A cheaper adhesive can become expensive if it causes production or quality problems. Ask Muir Tapes & Adhesives to evaluate your current adhesive process.
